Oaken Financial

LOCATION: 145 KING ST W, TORONTO

This financial services company wanted to offer unintimidating interactive technology and make a powerful brand statement in its small-footprint storefront operations in Toronto and Calgary. Most clients manage their money independently online or by phone, so clients had to be offered a reason to visit the branches. DIRTT feature walls incorporate multiple-screen monitor displays and interactive touch screens, with eye-catching custom graphics reflecting the company’s core values. Their narrow profile makes the most of limited space, and future flexibility means technology, graphics and brand messaging are easily updated. The modern design and ease of access helps to create a relaxed, welcoming environment for clients who prefer a personal touch in their banking.

Altus Group Ltd.

LOCATION: 33 YONGE ST, TORONTO
SQUARE FEET (PROJECT RELATION): 56,365
NUMBER OF WORKSTATIONS: 250

Altus Group initiated a project in 2010 which involved the amalgamation of 4 Altus locations into a new Head Office. Altus’s objective was to fit a growing number of employees into the new space, to make the best use of the space, and to create high efficiency work areas. During the design process of workspaces, Altus requested all new products be installed. POI facilitated the project, working hand-in-hand with the designer, to understand the base designs and to incorporate suitable products. During a number of showroom visits, POI created mockups consisting of different workspace setup options for Altus. POI supplied and installed 250 Steelcase Answer workstations, in addition to lounge and café furniture, sound masking and audio visual tech products. POI used Steelcase’s Coalesse line to provide open collaboration spaces, lunchroom furniture and Steelcase RoomWizard scheduling technology products. Altus remains an ongoing client and is satisfied with POI’s service offerings.

Once the moves were completed per phase, POI was responsible for decommissioning each facility and where possible redistributed the furniture in the most environmentally acceptable manner, or as required, recycling the furniture to avoid land fill. POI successfully relocated 1,600 people and their equipment from 14 TELUS locations. As a result, POI installed a wide variety of new Steelcase products including Privacy Wall, Media:Scape and lounge seating for use in TELUS’s café and lobbies.

Since the project, POI has maintained an ongoing partnership with TELUS—currently providing reconfiguration services, warranty work, move services, space planning, inventories and furniture sales to 10 TELUS locations throughout the GTA.

Royal Bank of Canada

LOCATION: 155 WELLINGTON ST W, TORONTO
RELOCATION: 4,750 STAFF RELOCATE
4,297 WORKSTATION CONTENTS RELOCATED
611 PRINTERS/FAX MACHINES RELOCATED

The Royal Bank of Canada employs 60,000 people who serve more than 12 million personal, business and public sector customers through offices in North America and some 30 countries around the world. In 2010, a strategic plan required the consolidation of 7 separate GTA locations into 1 main location (the RBC Centre).

A strategic partnership between RBC, CBRE and POI spearheaded 21 separate relocations over multiple weekends. To ensure a safe and secure move, RBC used building protection in addition to POI’s Ergo-Crates for office contents and computers.

Diligent planning, excellent communication and dedicated on-site management throughout the project resulted in an incredibly smooth relocation. After each move, the pre-scheduled fine tuning proved very beneficial to RBC as it provided an immediate review of any issues or concerns and assisted in last minute move related services.
