POI is excited to announce the acquisition of Doing Things Simply Inc. (DTS), a Toronto-based audiovisual provider founded in 1999. Effective immediately, DTS joins the POI family, marking a meaningful step in expanding POI’s integrated workplace solutions. It also strengthens the technical capabilities and resources available to support customers at every stage of delivery.
As the workplace has become a more connected environment, customer expectations have followed. The demand for seamless integration of furniture, architecture, and technology continues to grow. More than ever, customers are looking for partners who can plan and deliver those disciplines together. The goal is to create environments where physical space and collaboration technology are designed as a unified system rather than coordinated by separate providers.
At POI, we’ve always believed that when every element of the built environment is considered together, it performs better and, more importantly, it supports and inspires the people working within it. This acquisition is a direct expression of that belief in practice.
Designing for True Integration
As the hybrid work model has matured from a temporary measure to a long-term strategy, the bar for what a well-functioning environment requires has risen. Every meeting and collaboration space needs to perform reliably for both in-room and remote participants, and be designed with acoustics, sightlines, lighting, and mixed-presence functionality in mind.
When AV systems are planned separately from furniture and interior architecture, those considerations come too late. Decisions have already been made. And the result is environments that work around their technology rather than with it. True integration means bringing AV thinking into the design process from the outset, not as a finishing step, but as part of the foundation.
What DTS Brings to POI
Founded in 1999, DTS has spent more than two decades building expertise in advanced digital AV and collaboration systems across corporate, government, healthcare, and education environments. Its 38-person team brings specialists to support the full complexity of a project across every key function: design and engineering, implementation, commissioning, user training, and managed services. All backed by some of the industry’s highest certifications and partnerships with leading AV and collaboration technology providers.
What distinguishes DTS is its focus on user adoption. Technology only delivers value when people use it confidently and consistently. And that confidence only comes from environments where the tools feel intuitive and well supported. DTS designs with that outcome in mind, prioritizing solutions that are straightforward, reliable, and built to serve the people working with them long after installation. That philosophy fits naturally within POI’s commitment to creating workplaces that genuinely support the teams who use them.
“For more than two decades, Doing Things Simply Inc has focused on helping organizations implement workplace technology that is intuitive, reliable, and designed around the way people work, Joining POI provides an opportunity to expand our reach and bring technology, systems design, and managed services together from the very beginning, with the flexibility to support future changes as our customers’ needs evolve.” — Gavin Bridge, Managing Director, DTS
DTS will continue operating under its existing leadership. Gavin Bridge remains the Managing Director, and there are no planned changes to the team or operations. The company’s headquarters will remain on Birchmount Road in Scarborough.
What This Means for Organizations
For POI’s customers, embedding 26 years of AV experience into the project from day one changes what’s possible. Organizations gain access to a deeper technical know-how and a delivery model designed to support projects more effectively. Rather than coordinating work across multiple providers, customers work with a single accountable partner who can see the customer’s full picture. This results in fewer handoffs and clearer coordination across all disciplines.
“At our core, POI is about supporting our customers’ vision and helping them create workplaces that drive business results. Since 1958, POI’s story has been about evolving to meet our customers’ needs and ensuring we are always an integral and relevant part of their project teams. The acquisition of DTS allows us to better support our customers by adding an industry leader in Audiovisual integration into the POI family and enhancing our ability to provide a seamless integration of furniture and technology in the workplace.” Jonas Scholl, CEO, POI
For existing DTS customers, the day-to-day experience remains the same—same team, same leadership, same standard of service. What changes is the reach. Through the acquisition, DTS expands its presence across all markets served by POI throughout Ontario and Manitoba, bringing its technology integration capabilities to a broader network of customers and partners across both provinces.
