Position Summary
The Studio Manager ensures the effective operation of the POI Design Studio to enable growth and development of the team and instigate a culture of creative confidence and efficiency. Sets and implements the studio’s strategic goals, initiatives, and policies. Shares the responsibility for the performance of the team and individuals within.

General Responsibilities
- Manage division performance metrics to ensure profitability and achievement of goals
- Serve as mentor to team members and provide opportunities for professional growth and development
- Manage direct reports; to include responsibility for individual assessment and team performance, training, coaching, performance management and conflict resolution
- Partner with leadership and sales teams to ensure flawless execution of design services
- Oversee the workflow, workload and utilization of team members and assign projects based on skill set, client relationships and availability
- Determine staffing needs for the division and participate in the hiring process to include interviewing and making hiring decisions
- Develop and manage standards, processes, and quality assurance
- Manage multiple projects and engagements
- Develop deep partnerships with sales leaders and teams
- Organize meetings and meet with key customers and stakeholders, as well as serve as customer point of contact
- Attend and engage in industry events
- Establish and reinforce team culture and be a culture champion
- Work with Sales to produce accurate quotes, proposals, and contracts
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university. Associate Art’s Degree or equivalent from a three-year college or technical school will be considered
- A minimum of 10 years’ Design experience, and previous experience managing a team is desired.
- ARIDO Registered Designer accreditation is preferred. BCIN certification is an asset.
- Prior experience with system furniture products and/or experience in corporate planning and design is an asset preferred
- Furniture Dealer or Manufacturer experience is preferred
- Steelcase and Global expertise are an asset
- Advanced knowledge of the Ontario Building Code is an asset
- Proficient with AutoCAD 2013 or current release
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
- Support all initiatives with respect to Health and Safety in the workplace, which includes reviewing our Health and Safety policy on a quarterly basis
- Demonstrate role model qualities – i.e., good attendance, punctuality, neat appearance, positive attitude along with POI’s core value and beliefs
Work Conditions

- Based out of POI’s LivingLAB – Toronto, Ontario
- Some travel to POI’s Distribution Centre, suppliers, or client sites
