Conestoga College set out with a plan to construct an International Students’ Campus and chose Kitchener’s Market Square to do so. The College engaged POI as educational environment experts to provide both insights as well as curated, durable furnishing solutions. The Campus would be an exciting, edgy, and exhilarating environment that would stimulate student engagement, collaboration and learning in a non-traditional setting.
The complex was ambitious and created with growth in mind for future expansion in order to attract an international base of students from around the globe, with plans to increase course offerings over the next few years.
POI acted as an integral partner to support Conestoga College and the design solution through the provision and management of a variety of furnishing options and materiality from multiple vendors. The furnishings were installed to support common public spaces including student lounges and collaboration areas, as well as an open study library and bookable meeting rooms for faculty and students.
POI and Conestoga College have forged a positive and evolving relationship over the past few years. POI has become a trusted partner of the College, working with them through a variety of issues on complex projects to ensure client satisfaction. POI was able to manage unforeseen project delays and stepped up to assist with the logistical management of the furniture through the holidays to ensure the space was ready for day one.
